Who We Are
The Arsi Oromo Self Help Association was founded by a small group of Arsi Oromo families who arrived in Calgary and found themselves far from home — but not alone. They came together to create a space where culture could be kept alive, where newcomers could find support, and where every member of the community could feel seen and valued.
Over the years, our association has grown into a vibrant community hub. We organize cultural celebrations, provide settlement assistance, connect members with resources, and advocate for the rights and dignity of the Oromo people in Canada.
We are proud of where we come from. The Arsi region of Oromia is known for its resilient people, its fertile land, and its deep traditions. We carry that spirit with us every day — in Calgary, in Alberta, and across Canada.
